NEIGHBORHOODS CLOSEST TO A SHOPPING AREA
POINT DUME
Things of note:
Closer to the Valley
Direct access to the beach
A standard residential layout
Shopping area: Point Dume Village
Point Dume is a sizeable residential area beachside off Pacific Coast Highway. Many residents utilize golf carts or bikes to get around since everything you need is steps away from your front door. Homeowners get a key to the gated Little Dume beach that some may argue is the best-kept gem for Malibu locals. The New York elite get keys to small parks in the city while we receive unfettered access to the most pristine beach in California with whale-watching and dolphin views. Point Dume is also home of a state-certified, A-rated elementary school with a special focus on marine science.

MALIBU ROAD
Things of note:
Closer to Los Angeles
Direct access to several beaches
Shopping areas: Malibu Country Mart (Cross Creek) and Malibu Colony Plaza
Malibu Road is a very private strip of homes beachside off of the Pacific Coast Highway. You are steps away from two of the major shopping centers in Malibu while being atop several beautiful beaches. Ownership of a Malibu Road home is extremely sought after due to the homes' celebrity status, two-story layout, jaw-dropping ocean view, and direct beach access.

MALIBU PARK
Things of note:
Closer to the Valley
A standard residential layout
Shopping area: Trancas Country Market
Malibu Park is much deeper into Malibu- away from the tourists and faster pace. It is a standard neighborhood layout on the canyon side of Pacific Coast Highway- meaning the views are incredible and there is a large amount of space for children to play. Locals in the area get to enjoy the large Zuma beach and more niche local stores. The neighborhood is located conveniently near Malibu High School and is closer to some of the best hiking trails in Southern California.

BROAD BEACH
Things of note:
Closer to the Valley
Direct access to the beach
Shopping area: Trancas Country Market
Broad Beach is the community on the opposite side of Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu Park. You get access to all of the incredible things that Malibu Park offers, other than a standard residential layout, and direct access to Broad Beach! Away from the stressors of the city, this neighborhood is extremely private and sought after. The homes are luxurious, situated on the sand, and the perfect environment for relaxation.

PARADISE COVE
Things of note:
Closer to the Valley
Direct access to the beach
Shopping area: Point Dume Village
Paradise Cove is the best of both worlds (literally, Miley Cyrus used to live here). A very gated and private neighborhood that is entrenched in the woods and engulfed in foliage and tree cover, while being steps away from Paradise Cove beach and the Paradise Cove Beach cafe. The neighborhood is also directly next to the mobile home park and is no stranger to having chic mobile homes scattered around the neighborhood as well. The nature in this extremely private area makes it extremely walkable and calming for residents.

MALIBU COVE COLONY
Things of note:
Closer to the Valley
Direct access to the beach
Shopping area: Point Dume Village
Malibu Cove Colony is exemplary of Malibu celebrity living as being one of the two guard-gated communities on the beach. This neighborhood is right down the road from Paradise Cove, sits atop Escondido Beach, and is situated under the famous Geoffrey's restaurant. Escondido Beach is known for its impressive surf with fantastic breaks and is near the Latigo tide pools.

CLOSEST TO LOS ANGELES (from closest to furthest)
SUNSET MESA
Things of note:
Affordable listings
Family-oriented homes
Apartment offerings
Sunset Mesa is the first official neighborhood of Malibu. Some homes are still under the Pacific Palisades name and zip code. The start of the community is noted with the Getty Villa- the extremely beautiful sister of The Getty museum in Los Angeles. The neighborhood is canyon-side of Pacific Coast Highway, therefore homes in this neighborhood have beautiful ocean views. It is a very standard residential layout with spacious roads and lots.

BIG ROCK
Things of note:
Access to the beach and Topanga canyons
Big Rock is a mix of beach and canyon homes that have expansive views of the ocean, islands, and the string of city lights known as the Queen’s Necklace. You have direct access to the canyons of Topanga as well as your own beach. You're conveniently located beside Moonshadows Malibu- one of the most famous restaurants in the area.

LA COSTA
Things of note:
Direct beach access or exciting windy canyon driving
Home of Duke's Malibu restaurant
Little public access to your beach
La Costa is the neighborhood attached to Big Rock. It is also an amazing mix of canyon and beachside offerings. The La Costa canyon stretches upwards for miles but still has access to the La Costa Beach Club below. There are very few beachgoers to La Costa Beach because of its difficult access, that is unless you're a community member. There are few tourists and visitors as you are situated in the middle of Pacific Coast Highway. Minutes from central Malibu and Santa Monica.

MOST SECLUDED
ELLICE STREET
Things of note:
Resort-style homes with unobstructed, truly stunning ocean view
As close to Santa Barbara as Los Angeles
The most western neighborhood in Malibu and the middle point between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. You're directly on the Malibu county line (and across the street from the Malibu County Line Beach). There are very few cars for miles- the only people that speed by are most likely on their way to Ventura or Oxnard. You are close to the Neptune's Net restaurant though- and only 15 minutes from the Camarillo private jet center. Your community is situated in an 80-acre resort-style lot named MariSol.

LARGE ACREAGE
WINDING WAY
Things of note:
Some of the highest price-per-square-foot homes in Southern California
Access to hiking trails featuring waterfalls and streams
Winding Way is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Malibu with only 104 homes and some of the largest estates. You can find the major filmmakers of Hollywood scattered around the canyon riding their golf carts and enjoying the stunning views. There are several State Park hiking trails with several breathtaking waterfalls. You're conveniently located in the middle of everything- a short ride down Pacific Coast Highway in either direction are the major shops and attractions of Malibu.

CLOSEST TO PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY
MALIBU COUNTRY ESTATES
Things of note:
Close to the Valley
Family-style homes
Malibu Country Estates gives an incredible suburban feel and offers pedestrian-friendly sidewalks and easy access to the amenities of Pepperdine University. The family-style homes sit atop cul-de-sacs but offer canyon or ocean views. The houses are large and on large lots, and most come with serene pools for the 365 warm sunny days.
